Lady Stangs hit the road

The Lady Stangs volleyball team hits the road this weekend with only 4 games left in the regular season. These games will likely determine the fate of the Stangs and their participation in the post season. Western is 2-5 in conference road matches; the goal was to try and be at .500; do that and the ladies would win the West given their strong home record. We can’t get to .500 but we can get close. The Stangs will be in Grand Junction Friday to take on Colorado Mesa (9-15, 4-10 RMAC) before moving on to Ft. Lewis Saturday to take on the league worst Skyhawks (5-17, 2-12 RMAC) While the Lady Stangs should win, on paper, they need to win both to keep pace with West Division leading CSU Pueblo. Pueblo sits at 9-6 in the RMAC 1/2 game ahead of the Lady Stangs. Pueblo has all 3 matches on the road, including this weekend at Adams State; the Grizzlies are tied with the Stangs for 2nd place; then Pueblo comes to Silver City next week in a match that could be for the West Division crown. The Lady Stangs lost 3-2 at Pueblo earlier this year so it’s a very winnable match at home. It’s win and go on or lose and stay home for the Mustangs.
