WNMU’s tennis teams prepare for conference action by taking on the best teams in the region. It doesn’t always look good on paper but when the conference schedule rolls around, they will be better for the experience. The Lady Stangs concluded a two day road trip in Colorado Springs facing the Falcons of the Air Force Academy. The Falcons came away with a 7-0 win but the Lady Stangs gave them a tough match.

In singles action Ganna Tiurina kept it close against Melissa Cecil falling 6-2, 6-4. Nikolina Vukadin and Ashley Newell each fell by scores of 6-0, 6-1 as did Dena Irvin. Doris Berberic was unable to pick up a game losing 6-0 and 6-0. Davida Aragon fell 6-2, 6-0. Most of the games were close but the young Lady Stang team just couldn’t get the final points.

In doubles action Vukadin/Tiurina fell 8-2, Newell/Berberic lost 8-1 and Irvin/Aragon fell 8-1. The Lady Stangs return to action this Thursday in Silver City as they host NMMI beginning at 11:30 a.m.
