WNMU men’s golf is getting an early taste of just how tough it will be to qualify for nationals in the NCAA Super Region later this year as they are facing many of the top teams in the CSU San Bernardino Coyote Classic. The Mustangs sit in 10th place after completion of the first round of play firing a team score of 301, sixteen strokes behind tournament leading Chico State at 285.

WNMU did not play particularly well on the 6500 yard par 70 Arrowhead CC layout. Michael O’Connor paced the Stangs with a 74 followed closely by Ben Nelson with a 75. Patrick Beyhan and Michael Lopez each fired a 76 to account for the Mustangs team total while Kenny Maroney carded a 78. The Mustangs are in 10th place in the 17 team tournament that concludes today.
