Mustangs Honored by RMAC

WNMU’s basketball players Chad Carter and T. J. Riley along with softball’s Stephanie Higgins were honored by the RMAC this week. Carter and Riley were named to the post season All RMAC basketball teams while Higgins was named the RMAC’s Player of the Week.

Riley finished as the second leading scorer in the RMAC this season averaging 18 points per game. He was also in the top 10 in assists, fourth in steals, and scored in double digits in all but 3 games this season. Riley received post season honors in each of his 3 seasons at WNMU being named to the third team his Sophomore year and the first team last season and again this year. Riley has been invited to try out for several professional leagues this summer including leagues in Europe and the NBA Developmental league.

Carter was named to the All RMAC 2nd team. He was named the conference’s Athlete of the month in January and RMAC Player of the Week on January 30th. He finished 2nd in the conference in blocked shots with 50; 4th in rebounding and averaged 16 points a game good for 4th in the conference. The junior eclipsed the 1000 point mark in the next to last game this season. Carter was named to the first team in the RMAC last season.

Higgins was a force for the Mustangs as they opened up RMAC play with a 4 game sweep of Adams State over the weekend. In game one Higgins was 3-3 at the plate including a HR, a double and three RBI. In fact she had 3 RBI in each of the first three games. For the week Higgins walked twice, did not strike out in 12 at bats, garnered 9 hits and 9 RBI with 5 runs scored. The freshman also posted 28 putouts without an error.
